Wake Up the Guards
Album Cover for the Ben Phelps Project.
This was my first opportunity to really sink my teeth into album-cover design. The band explored several possible directions, including a humorous concept featuring the group on a boat surrounded by wild animals. Ultimately, we chose a much darker and more dramatic approach—one that better reflected the title Wake Up the Guards and gave the album the visual weight it needed.
The cover went on to receive additional recognition when the Veer Awards—often considered Hampton Roads’ version of the Grammys—named the album Album of the Year in 2020. I was proud to have created the cover art for a project that earned that distinction.
Honey West: Phases of the Moon: Book Two
I loved this opportunity to design a comic book cover because this particular project allowed me to combine traditional illustration with digital finishing. For Honey West, I drew the original artwork at 32″ × 40″ on illustration board, scanned it and completed the color, background, and textural treatment in Adobe Photoshop.

NIRA X: Zombies vs Cheerleaders
Nira X was created by my longtime friend Bill Maus, and I’ve had the privilege of illustrating several covers for the character over the years. Each one gives me the chance to push the action, drama, and comic-book spectacle while keeping Nira X as the unmistakable focal point.
ANABO - The Progression
I designed this progression chart for ANABO, a fitness brand created by a personal trainer and gym owner. The challenge was to organize his training methodology into a clear visual system, using the letters of ANABO to define the stages of a progressive workout regimen. Strong hierarchy, color shifts, and simple iconography help make a fairly detailed program easy to navigate.
